The wine
Martell VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) Red Barrels is a cognac made with eaux-de-vie aged for at least 4 years in oak casks, in this case reddish, fine-grain oak casks previously used to age other eaux-de-vie.
About the Producer Martell
Martell is one of the oldest Cognac houses, founded in 1715 by Jean Martell. It is now part of the Martell Mumm Perrier-Jouet branch of the French group Pernod Ricard. This house has contributed greatly to cognac's global renown, exporting it early on to the UK and Asia. It produces a wide range of cognacs, all well reputed.
