More info

Thanks to its trading business, the estate produces a 100% Gamay from the Moulin-à-Vent appellation with great dedication. Each bunch used to produce this cuvée is grown using healthy, balanced viticulture methods that respect the environment and biodiversity, free of chemical fertilisers and weed killers. The Gamay grapes are carefully hand-picked at peak ripeness. Once in the winery, the grapes are delicately pressed to obtain a high quality juice. The cuvée is matured in casks before being bottled.
The bright, clear ruby-red colour reveals an expressive, refined bouquet of black fruit, combined with hints of grey pepper and animal notes. On the palate, a superb tannic structure balances beautifully with a fine acidity, leading to a fruity and persistent finish.

About the Producer Domaine Lassarat

At Domaine Lassarat, the winemaking tradition has been handed down from father to son. At just 22 years old Roger Lassarat started working on the vineyard in Vergisson, along the border of the Beaujolais region and between the Rock of Vergisson and the Rock of Solutré. His son, Pierre Henri, followed quickly in his footsteps, and at only 14 years old he replaced his father when becoming the one to present the wines. Together, they produce 80,000 bottles per year with13 vintages over four different appellations: Macon-Vergisson, Saint-Véran, Pouilly-Fuissé and Moulin à Vent. The plots on the 11 hectares are carefully divided to respect the specific qualities of each terroir so that they can flourish in each cuvée. The grapes are hand-harvested, then delicately pressed before ageing in French oak casks. The winemakers leave the native yeast during the fermentation process to preserve the unique identity of the terroir. The father and son team have also implemented environmentally friendly methods without sacrificing quality. The estate’s philosophy is to “obtain the best of what nature has to offer”. The result is rich and full-bodied wines which reflect the diversity of the terroir and vintages from which they are produced.
