La Grande Cuvée is produced from vines planted in clay-limestone soils and benefits from a Mediterranean climate that encourages high-quality winegrowing. Vinification starts with light pressing followed by fermentation at a low temperature to preserve the delicate aromas of the grape varieties used - mainly Chardonnay, Viognier and Roussanne. Ageing of the Grande Cuvée is done partly in stainless steel vats and also in French oak barrels, giving the wine an additional level of complexity without overpowering its fruity character.
The result is a wine of great finesse, with a pale-yellow colour and golden glints. The nose unveils aromas of white-fleshed fruits, white flowers and light citrus notes. On the palate, it offers a wonderful roundness, balanced by a lively acidity and a subtle minerality, with a long and harmonious finish. This wine would pair perfectly with dishes containing seafood, grilled fish or even game in sauce.
About the Producer Mas Laval
Mas Laval is a family-owned domain in Aniane. Christine and Joël Laval took it over in the early 2000s. The vineyard covers 30 hectares, planted with Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon, old Carignan vines and even some Aramon; and for the white wines, Chardonnay, Viognier and Roussanne. The vines are cultivated sustainably; in the winery, vinification is traditional and natural, with as little intervention as possible. The various cuvées are matured for 8-18 months in lightly-toasted Burgundy barriques. The wines from this domain have made enormous progress, in particular now offering very silky textures.
