Yet again a great, almost exceptional year, although some very hot weather during the harvest compromised the success of certain domains. The wines are strong and suave with an unusual smoothness. Certain domains excelled themselves, such as the legendary Cheval Blanc, Ausone and Haut-Brion. The climate was also good for the Sauternes which had an excellent year producing rich, unctuous wines with long cellaring capacities.
