Languedoc | 2014 vintage
Languedoc experienced it all in 2014! In the spring, spells of hot weather tested vines severely. During the summer, the region saw sharp variations in temperature with cool periods followed by periods of extreme heat and violent storms.
To top it all, the wines lost a degree of alcohol compared to previous years. Fortunately, Languedoc also likes fresher years although you should forget about keeping these wines for a long time as they are superb to drink after just a few years. The Pézenas, Faugères and Saint-Chinian districts have produced some excellent wines. Roussillon reds have also done well. Producers who could wait have turned out some ripe and very drinkable wines. What's more, these can be laid down.
Languedoc and Roussillon whites have benefited from the coolness and the wines are wonderfully balanced. In Roussillon, the wines have turned out to be superb, especially for later grape varieties.
