Alain Gras

★ Partner Producer
Alain Gras, descendant of a family of Burgundy winegrowers, settled in Saint-Romain in 1979 with the aim of promoting this appellation, still relatively unknown to wine lovers. And yet, with colossal cliffs protecting the vines from the wind, limestone soils perfectly adapted to producing fine wines, and several hundred hectares planted in the commune, everything was in place for the appellation to rival its more famous neighbours on the Côte.
Today, the estate covers 15 hectares of vineyards in the Saint-Romain, Auxey-Duresses and Meursault appellations. Working with a sustainable mindset, the estate follows traditional methods in the winery for both vinification and ageing, always with one goal in mind: crafting wines that are generous, mineral and elegant, wines that can be sipped, enjoyed young or after a few years in the cellar. This is a challenge that has been brilliantly met, and one that Alain and Nathalie’s son, Arthur, is preparing to take on himself as he trains in viticulture.
Producing red and white wines, Alain Gras ranks among the finest estates for enthusiasts with a taste for still affordable Côte de Beaune wines. A real iDealwine team favourite which we urge you to taste without delay.
