Now owned by an American family, the wines are crafted under the assured direction of Frédéric Barnier, who safeguards the house’s hallmark precision and consistency. These unwavering standards are what sets Maison Jadot apart in Burgundy. With 225 hectares under vine and representation across 130 appellations, not only in the Côte d’Or but also in the Mâconnais and Beaujolais, wine lovers can expect genuine pleasure at every price level, always easily identifiable by the iconic Bacchus head on the label. The estate favours traditional winemaking methods, with slow fermentations and extended ageing. Chemical herbicides are prohibited and yields are strictly limited. Corton-Charlemagne is the only vineyard in Burgundy bearing the name of two emperors: Curtis d'Othon, Emperor of Germany, giving Courthon and then Corton, to which Carolus Magnus, Charlemagne, followed. Located on the emblematic "Colline des Cortons", this Grand Cru helped with the international notoriety of the hill. The "Colline" or "Montagne des Cortons" is a veritable mosaic of styles and terroirs. The Corton-Charlemagne of Louis-Jadot is an elegant, straightforward and powerful wine. The palate evokes ripe fruit and hazelnut. It is a great white wine to drink after at least 8 years’ aging.
