Information
The estate has championed plot-by-plot vinification for over 40 years. Each clos is harvested by hand, then vinified and aged separately, for each terroir to shine through with clarity and precision. The vineyard is planted exclusively with Melon de Bourgogne, the sole grape variety authorised under the Muscadet appellation. With the arrival of the new generation, biodynamics has become an integral part of the estate’s philosophy, a conscious, personal choice rather than a trend. Innovation is a constant here, whether in the wines themselves or in the evolving approaches to vinification and ageing, resulting in wines prized for their finesse and strong sense of identity. Bettane & Desseauve notes that “the various tastings throughout the year place this estate at the very top of the Muscadet hierarchy,” while La Revue du Vin de France’s Green Guide describes it as “an inspiring estate, a true revelation of the terroirs, and age-worthy great white wines of the Nantes region."
Today, demand is such that more than half of the production is exported, with Luneau-Papin wines gracing the tables of leading Michelin-starred establishments around the world.
Les Pierres Blanches is made with 100% Melon de Bourgogne grapes from vines that are more than 55 years old and planted on south-west facing parcels. Yields are carefully controlled and treatments restricted to an absolute minimum. Manual harvesting preserves the maximum grapes possible. The wine should ideally be served at between 10 and 12°C and makes an ideal pairing with white meats and fish. It can also be enjoyed on its own, as an aperitif.
