Information
Gianni Brunelli is originally from Montalcino. He returned in 1987 to take over the running of his father’s property, “La Chiusa de Sotto”. The 5-hectare domain is located to the north-east of Montalcino where Sangiovese in planted on 2 hectares while olive trees grow in the rest of the domain for the production of olive oil. Their philosophy is to produce wines which are as natural as possible. The environment is something which is important to Gianna Brunelli, and so everything is done in order to have as small an impact as possible on the environment. The grapes are grown by hand and yields are limited to guarantee the quality of the juices.
This wine comes from one of Tuscany's most highly-reputed appellations. The local climate makes this wine particularly intense and robust. The wine, produced exclusively from Sangiovese, has received 36 months' élevage in 20-hectolitre wooden vats. Its ruby appearance reveals aromas of roses, black berries and earth. The attack is velvety and generous. Its aromatic persistence makes it a good pairing for food of character.
