About the producer

Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia are childhood friends. They decided to crzeate Comando G in 2008 in the mountainous Sierra de Gredos region, not far from Madrid. The went on the search for vineyards planted in the most difficult, remote areas. Garnacha (Grenache) is their grape variety of choice, and their ambition is to make wines which rival the elegance and finesse of a Burgundian Pinot Noir or a Syrah from Hermitage. The 10-hectare domain is entirely biodynamic, and the vines aged 50 to 80 years, planted between 850 and 1,200 metres of altitude on soils of sand, granite, ardoise and quartz. The combination of well-draining soils, high altitude and a clement micro-climate guarantees a long growing season, wines which are not too high in alcohol and extremely refined.

About the wine

Daniel Gomez Jimenez-Landi, who also runs the Comando G estate in the Sierra de Gredos vineyards, has created this cuvée using only Grenache grapes. The grapes come from 60-year-old vines that soak up the nutrients needed to flower from clay and sandy soils. The vineyards are planted at an altitude of between 550 and 850 metres, not too far from Madrid. His manual work is based on respect for nature. The slopes have a gradient of more than 50% and despite not being certified, he is committed to using eco-friendly and biodynamic growing methods.
This wine is best enjoyed young, but needs to be aired for one or two hours before serving. It then reveals a wonderful ruby-red colour and a generous bouquet of fruits with a touch of liquorice to finish. Hints of sweet spices add a touch of complexity to the wine, making it a perfect pairing for grilled dishes.
