Information
From the outset, and despite his father’s reservations, Adrien Renoir asserted his style by eliminating weedkillers and initiating a transition to organic farming on his parcels located in the commune of Verzy, a Grand Cru of the Montagne de Reims. Today, he tends his vines biodynamically, though not certified, and has proven the relevance of his practices even in such a northerly region.
In the winery, he favours spontaneous fermentations driven by native yeasts, vinifies and ages his wines in neutral wood, producing characterful Champagnes that focus on purity and tension. Parcel-based cuvées showcase his terroirs planted with old vines. Meanwhile, the winemaker continues to innovate in the winery with a solera ageing system, adding an extra layer of complexity. A promising winemaker, well worth discovering without delay!
This cuvée is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay sourced from a terroir classified as a grand cru located in Verzy, on the Montagne de Reims. The organically grown grapes are hand-harvested, with 80% vinified in stainless steel vats and the remaining 20% in oak casks. The blend is supplemented by 20% reserve wine aged in foudres (large wooden tuns) matured on lees until the month of July following the harvest. After bottling, this cuvée is left to rest in the house’s cellars for three years, gaining additional depth and character. In the glass, it displays a pale golden hue with glints of gold. The nose reveals aromas of pear, green apple, lime, and brioche with a delicate hint of blanched almond. The palate is elegant, concentrated, and ample, leading to a delightful long, refreshing finish. An indulgent Champagne, perfect with refined dishes such as roast poultry.
