About the producer
Wild Turkey is a bourbon distillery founded in 1869 in Tyrone, near Lawrenceburg, in the state of Kentucky. The Wild Turkey brand is said to have been founded after Thomas McCarthy, a director of the brand’s bottler Austin Nichols, took home a few samples of bourbon from a trip to hunt wild turkey in 1940. According to legend, he invited some close friends to taste what would become Wild Turkey Bourbon and they were immediately smitten.

A Wild Turkey 8 Year Old bottled in the late 1980s. It was bottled at 86.8 proof rather than the 101 proof used for most versions of this Wild Turkey.
