Information
Located in Beaune, the Chanson Père et Fils house was founded in 1750 by Simon Verry. It was then taken over by Nicolas Chanson in the 19th century, who developed the house’swinemaking activity and gave it its current name. It was purchased in 1999 by the Bollinger group; the vineyard now spans 45 hectares. The vines are grown organically, and the soils tilled; in the winery, a high proportion of stems is retained. The wines (especially reds) are of great quality and amply reward cellaring.
You may have heard of Chanson, one of the oldest Wine Houses in Burgundy, and whose wines have graced the tables of illustrious personalities such as Lamartine, Voltaire, Louis Bonaparte and Madame Elisabeth. Founded in the middle of the 18th century, it can pride itself on a wealth of expertise that combines tradition and innovation. And here the House offers us a wine from the legendary Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru. The Pinot Noir grapes used to produce this wine benefit from a semi-continental, semi-oceanic climate, and are sourced following strict guidelines from certified organic estates that encourage environmentally friendly, with a particular emphasis on ploughing. In the winery, the vinification process is equally rigorous. The grapes are not completely destemmed, to produce wines that are fresh and yet well suited to ageing. This powerful wine requires time to develop and reveal its complex, dense fragrance of red and black fruit, humus, sweet spices, precious woods, leather and fur, along with its round, coating tannins that gradually become silky with age.
