Information
The famous historical domaine of Volnay, the Pousse d'Or has an exceptional vineyard with many premier and grand crus. Previously owned by Gérard Potel, it is now in the hands of Patrick Landanger. The vineyard tends to come close to organic farming and the winemaking process is carried out smoothly, in the most natural way possible and élevage is understated (with a low proportion of new casks). The quality of this work means they can produce wines with remarkable aromatic expression and excellent aging potential.
Clos des 60 ouvrées Premier Cru is an iconic stonewalled parcel of vines planted to the south of Meursault. The Pinot Noir vines, growing on clay and limestone soils, benefit from biodynamic practices, ensuring each vine develops naturally and spontaneously. In the winery, long macerations are interspersed with pump overs to enable the grapes to release all their tannins and colours. Lastly, the cuvée is matured in amphorae, a signature feature of the estate.
The delicate ruby colour reveals light garnet reflections. The nose boasts intense floral aromas such as violets, combined with hints of red fruit such as redcurrant and cherry. On the palate, the wine is fresh and delicious, with powerful, concentrated fruity aromas. This cuvée will develop subtle spicy aromas with hints of prune after a few years of cellaring.
