Information
Tino Kuban, a passionate and enthusiastic winemaker, took over the reins of Domaine Bernard van Berg located in Meursault, giving it the charming name we know today, Les Jardins Vivants (The Living Gardens). He cultivates one and a half hectares of vines at the heart of this exceptional terroir, where low yields and early-morning harvests guarantee premium quality fruit. Alongside his rigorous work as a winemaker, Tino has developed his own wine merchant business, Maison Glandien. He sources grapes from partner winemakers and friends located in various winegrowing regions, including Burgundy and Beaujolais, as well as Alsace and the Jura. He seeks out grapes from sustainable, integrated viticulture that comply with his high quality standards. During the vinification process, spontaneous fermentation, minimal use of sulphites and ageing in used barrels all guarantee authentic, flavoursome wines.
Maison Glandien’s L’Ouverture Blanc is a 100% Riesling that is as unusual as it is delicious. The Riesling grapes are picked in the cool of the morning, in several passes, to select only the finest berries and preserve their freshness. In the winery, the grapes are vinified in whole bunches as naturally as possible. The fruit is pressed in a pump-free vertical press. All the stages are performed with the help of gravity without raking. The winemaking process is rounded off by a long ageing period in barrels before bottling.
The golden colour reveals a very expressive bouquet, with yellow fruit aromas complemented by a mineral structure. The palate of this ripe, chiselled 100% Riesling accurately reflects the aromas on the nose, while revealing hints of tropical fruit and white flowers, leading to a rich, flavoursome finish.
