Information
This 1997 trading house has gained worldwide fame thanks to its wines from the best parcels of the vineyard of Burgundy following the purchase of the Volnay family property (the Domaine de la Pousse d'Or). It pays attention to the contracts he makes with respectful wine growers, and covers both the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. The biodynamic calendar is followed, and the élevage on fine lees lasts 12 to 16 months, without racking, and with a minimum of added sulphur.
Surrounded by the grand cru of Chambertin, Charmes-Chambertin and Clos de la Roche in Morey-Saint Denis, the Pinot Noir vines used to produce this nectar originate from very old plots, cultivated in a sustainable and environmentally way. Once selected and transported to the winery, the Pinot Noir grapes are vinified using vertical presses. The racking stages strictly adhere to the lunar calendar and biodynamic methods. The red wine is then aged in old cellars for several 15 months before bottling.
The shiny ruby-red colour is complemented by an intense and spectacular nose, with expressive aromas of black cherry, cranberry and redcurrant, combined with light woody and spicy notes. The rich and ample palate offers a superb balance of delicate acidity and silky tannins, leading to a complex and persistent finish.
