Information
The story began in the mid-18th century, when Florens-Louis Heidsieck moved to Reims, married a native of Champagne and started a career as a wine merchant. He was soon immensely successful, even presenting his wines to Marie-Antoinette. Unsurprisingly, all of Europe's courts served this wine. It was bought by Jean-Louis Descours in 2011 and is now managed by his grandson Christofer Descours.
The Jean-Paul Gaultier Cuvée by Piper-Heidsieck is a non-vintage Brut Champagne, crafted by the prestigious house established in 1785. This special edition, designed by renowned fashion icon Jean-Paul Gaultier, is easily recognised by its striking red leather corset packaging, laced with bold black ties. The blend is dominated by Pinot Noir (50–55%), complemented by Pinot Meunier (30–35%) and Chardonnay (15–20%), with reserve wines making up 10–20% of the mix to ensure consistent taste across releases.
On the nose, this Champagne reveals intense aromas of white grapes, toasted coconut, and white peach, layered with hints of sweet apple, toasted bread, and caramel. The palate is fresh and well balanced, with a lively acidity that leads to a crisp, refreshing finish. Its creamy mousse and complex flavours make this Champagne an ideal choice for celebrations and special occasions.
