    About the producer

Established in 1977 with just over one hectare of vines, this estate has become one of the most prestigious on the Burgundy wine scene. Over the years, the family business has grown considerably and is now run by Philippe Charlopin. The winemaker has also been in charge of vinification at the Domaine de Fixin since 2006. Philippe cultivates 25 hectares of vines on his estate, spread over the emblematic terroirs of the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Chablis. Located in Gevrey-Chambetin, the vineyard showcases this exceptional terroir through traditional, natural viticulture. Once harvested, the grapes are vinified with low-intervention winemaking methods and minimal doses of sulphur. With a wealth of experience working with the greatest names in Burgundy, Philippe enjoys letting his wines express themselves and reflect the terroir. Philippe, with the help of his son Yann over the last few years, produces remarkable, beautifully balanced cuvées that reflect the many distinctive qualities of the region’s finest appellations.

    About the wine

This Chambolle-Musigny from Domaine Philippe Charlopin is produced from a small area of 1.5 hectares planted exclusively with Pinot Noir. The vines, rooted in clay-limestone soil, thrive on a terroir that infuses this wine with the elegance and minerality typical of the Côte de Nuits. The grapes are hand-picked to ensure a rigorous selection process before the vinification begins. This process follows a traditional method, with prolonged maceration for optimum extraction of tannins and colour. Following fermentation in open vats, the juice is aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels, with about 30% new wood, adding subtle woody nuances. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries, and violets, subtly enhanced by notes of vanilla. The supple attack on the palate reveals great finesse, with silky, refined tannins and a particularly remarkable persistent finish.
