This vineyard, nestling in the heart of the emblematic commune of Morey-Sain-Denis, was created in 1813 when Pierre Marchand and Marie Jacotier married. Over the years, the domain expanded steadily, largely through the purchase of a large old 18th-century winemakers’ property in Gevrey-Chambertin in 1983. Today, more than seven generations of winemakers have been involved in the vineyards, nurturing the plots across some of the region’s finest appellations. Denis Marchand has been running the family business since 1999, and is working to restore precision and balance to the cultivation of the land. To preserve the quality and distinctive character of the fruit, each parcel of vines is ploughed and the grapes are hand-picked. The resulting wines are deep and elegant, reflecting the finest qualities of the Burgundy terroir.
