    About the producer

Michel Guignier cultivates over four hectares of hillside vines situated between the communes of Fleurie and Chiroubles, in the foothills of the Massif Central. Each plot, ideally oriented to the south-east, is organically and biodynamically cultivated to produce healthy, natural wines. Michel Guignier practices polyculture, just like farmers did in the old days. This approach enables him to operate a self-sufficient operation, which naturally combats the vagaries of the weather while preserving biodiversity. The winemaker cultivates not only his vines, but also cereals, a vegetable garden and fruit trees, all of which provide an ideal habitat for animals. The hand-picked grapes are carefully sorted before undergoing semi-carbonic maceration. Thanks to these rigorous, natural methods, Michel Guignier produces exceptional cuvées that can be enjoyed in their youth, that also have surprisingly good ageing potential.

    About the wine

Built on age-old traditions passed on from one generation to the next, the estate, perched on the heights of the Beaujolais region, lovingly tends to its parcels of Gamay grapes. Each plot receives its own specific, completely natural treatment, using biodynamic methods. Absolutely no chemical fertilisers or weedkillers are used to treat the vines. In the win, the harvested fruit is vinified without inputs or sulphur with a view of producing authentic wines showcasing incomparable purity. The sorted fruit is pressed and fermentations are triggered spontaneously by native yeasts naturally present in the berries. The cuvée then undergoes a well-mastered ageing process in used oak ’casks before being bottled.
The bright red colour reveals an expressive bouquet, bursting with floral notes complemented by delicate hints of pepper. The finesse and intensity of the nose lead to a seductive palate revealing silky tannins combined with a fresh, mineral and persistent finish. This cuvée promises excellent ageing potential.
