Information
The majestic Comte de Montebello family estate stands at the foot of the Corton Hill. The Frey family already owned a number of prestigious vineyards, notably in the Rhône Valley and Bordeaux, when they acquired this sumptuous estate, with the aim of sublimating the Burgundy terroir. Caroline Frey was given the task of unlocking the potential of the seven hectares of vines. Alongside this, she runs a wine-trading business, allowing her to reflect the diversity of the Burgundy terroir. In her quest for perfection and premium quality raw materials, she works her plots following the principles of organic viticulture. The same approach is applied to the selection of grapes from partner winegrowers. In the winery, the meticulously selected grapes are carefully vinified to bring out the best in the region’s finest appellations, including Pommard, Beaune, Gevrey-Chambertin, Volant, Nuits-Saint-Georges and many others.
The famous Corton Hill is home to the exceptional climat des Chaumes. With the same origins as the climat les Charmes, its name indicates that the land was once abandoned before becoming a vineyard. Organic viticultural methods ensure that the Pinot Noir vines, which grow on clay and limestone soils, express their full potential. Once they have been meticulously selected, the grapes and musts are gently and delicately vinified to produce exceptional cuvées that reflect the finest facets of the Burgundian terroir.
The ruddy colour reveals an alluring bouquet, dominated by red fruit aromas such as blueberry, redcurrant and cherry, complemented by complex notes of spice. The elegant and generous mouthfeel affirms the aromas of the nose while building to a delicate and incredibly persistent finish. This 100% Pinot Noir offers excellent ageing potential.
