Information
Let’s head to South Africa and visit a family estate located in the Western Cape, east of Stellenbosch, founded by Jayne and Raoul Beaumont in the mid-1970s. Nowadays, Sebastian Beaumont runs the estate and produces this red wine from Pinotage, a typical South African grape variety. 80% of the vines used to produce this cuvée are around fifty years old. Harvesting was completed between mid-February and mid-March. Vinification is performed in concrete vats. Punch downs of the cap are conducted regularly, some 3 or 4 times per day. The wine is then aged in casks for a year and a half before being matured in vats for a further eight months.
A fruit-forward wine graced by fine tannins, which promises a delightful pairing with small game, mushrooms, squash or strong fish such as tuna.
