Information
Domaine Arlot takes its name from one of its parcels of land: the Clos de l'Arlot (4 hectare monopole). The domaine also holds a second prestigious premier cru, also as a monopole, the Clos des Forêts Saint Georges, as well as grand cru vines in Romanée-Saint-Vivant. It has been owned by the AXA Millésimes Group since 1987 and is currently 14 hectares in size. The domaine has been working organically since 2000 and with biodynamics since 2003. Its white wines are highly renowned, especially those from the Clos de l'Arlot and Clos des Forêts Saint Georges and its red wines are sublime with superbly vinified grapes in the full harvest. Previously managed by the remarkable Jacques Devauges, vinification has been led since 2014 by Geraldine Godot, from Maison Alex Gambal.
The Pinot Noir vines grow gracefully in some of the world’s most beautiful terroirs: between Romanée Saint-Vivant, Échezeaux, and Richebourg. These plots are cultivated using methods which respect the vines’ natural cycle. Instead of chemical fertiliser and pesticides, a more careful and precise approach is taken to respect organic farming techniques. The grapes are harvested by hand to preserve their freshness. The meticulous traditional winemaking process includes regular phases of punching down the cap and pouring the wine over the cap in order to showcase this terroir’s singularity. Lastly, the wine is matured for 15 months in barrels, 40% of which are new, and then three more months in vats before bottling.
Aromas of red berries and spice accompanied by floral notes blossom within this ruby-coloured wine. The structured, full-bodied palate leads to a robust, long finish accentuated by a pleasant minerality.
