    About the producer

Laurent Roumier, the cousin of Christophe (from the George Roumier domain) has long been associated with his brother. Since 1991 he has managed a four hectare-domain of rented vineyards, which he increased to seven hectares in 2005. The vines, which are 35 years old on average, are tended to with environmentally friendly practices. These vineyards spread over the Bourgogne, Hautes Côtes de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny, Clos Vougeot and Bonnes-Mares appellations. Laurent Roumier traditionally cultivates and vinifies using the old methods of treading and pumping over, without a pre-fermentation "cold soak", followed by a 15 to 18 month maturation in oak casks.
A man of few words, Laurent is fairly secretive when it comes to his "savoir-faire". However, his mastery is highly regarded amongst enlightened connoisseurs. His range includes wines made to be enjoyed soon (La Poirelotte) as well as cuvées with excellent ageing potential. Further information :Read the article about the domain Laurent Roumier on the blog

    About the wine

Let’s turn our attention to the Pinot Noir vines of the Laurent Roumier estate, planted over two hectares in the locality known as ‘La Poirelotte’, in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune but within the Chambolle-Musigny commune. The vines draw their riches from a slightly sloping clay-limestone soil at an altitude of around 350 metres. On average 35 years old, they are cultivated responsibly, without the use of fertilisers or herbicides.
The grapes are hand-picked, then vinified using traditional methods, with punching down and pumping over, followed by ageing in oak casks for 15 to 18 months.
This wine displays a rich garnet-red colour and a vibrant nose of red fruit, smoke and floral notes. On the palate, it is delicious, silky, well structured, beautifully acidic, with round tannins.
It is the perfect partner for poultry, charcuterie and cheeses. This wine can be enjoyed young and cellared for between 5 and 10 years.
