Information
Located in the Hesse region in Germany, the famed domain Keller has made a reputation for itself thanks to its Rieslings from old, low yielding vines. This domain has been in the same family for 10 generations. It stands out for producing some of the best-scoring Rieslings in Germany.
The Spätburgunder Trocken Großes Gewächs from the Burgel vineyard in Rhine Hesse is a red wine made from Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) grapes. The Großes Gewächs appellation designates wines of exceptional quality, produced from first-rate vineyards. The Burgel vineyard is characterised by a variety of soils, often consisting of limestone, clay and sand. This diversity imparts a unique aromatic complexity to the juice. The clay and limestone subsoil also retain water well, helping to provide the vines with the nutrients they require to thrive.
Dominant aromas include red fruit, such as cherry and raspberry, along with a touch of spice and earthy moisture. The palate is silky, with well-integrated tannins and refreshing acidity. A wine of great ageing potential, it improves with time, revealing greater depth and complexity. It is the ideal companion for game, red meat, roast poultry and richly flavoured vegetarian dishes.
