About the producer

In 1999, Jean-Baptiste officially took over Domaine Michel Bouzereau, proudly adding ‘et fils' to the estate name. This producer inherited a well-established family history, since the Bouzereaus have been making wine in Meursault for 7 generations. Observant and attentive, Jean-Baptiste spends most of his time in the vineyard, carefully watching the vines and working on the soil, convinced as he is that healthy fruit is the key to fine wine. The vines are grown sustainably with a philosophy moving towards organics. In 2008, he finished working on his new winery, giving him much more space to take care of each of his cuvées individually and adapt to their rhythm. The wines all come from parcels in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune, Pommard and Volnay, each of them increasingly appreciated for their elegance and finesse. Each of them respect the specificity of terroir and vintage.

About the wine

The Pinot Noir vines are cultivated with the utmost care, in accordance with the strict principles of sustainable viticulture, to reflect the ample, powerful character of the Les Cras parcel. Planted between 1982 and 1986, the vines are carefully harvested by hand when the grapes have reached optimum ripeness. In the winery, the destemmed fruit undergo cold maceration before fermentation is triggered by native yeasts. The cuvée is successively aged for one year in oak casks, with 25% new wood, and two months in vats before being bottled.
The rich ruby-red colour reveals an extremely expressive nose, with floral, red and black fruit aromas mingling beautifully with spicy notes. The powerful chewy palate reveals a superb balance of fine tannins and delicious black cherry aromas, leading to a persistent and fruity finish. This red wine promises long, delicious ageing potential.
