Information
Nestling on its hillside at the entrance to Margaux in the heart of the Médoc, Château Lascombes elegantly assumes its rank of Second Great Growth in the 1855 classification. The château has been undergoing a period of renewal since 2022, with a return to its origins and a family-style approach. The new owner Gaylon Lawrence, Jr., a lover of Bordeaux wines, has entrusted Axel Heinz, a winemaker who excelled in Tuscany for almost 20 years and a respected figure in the world of wine and beyond, to carry out his ambition of making Lascombes a jewel in the classic Margaux style for future generations. Thanks in particular to high-precision viticulture and gentle vinifications by infusion in the gravity-operated vat room inaugurated for the 2021 vintage, Lascombes’ range of wines expresses a unique terroir in terms of its quality, complexity and diversity, the precision of the fruit for each parcel, and the effect of the climate specific to each vintage. "Nature reigns", as Axel Heinz likes to remind us. Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and centred on the estate's historic terroir, Château Lascombes’ Grand Vin embodies the traditions of the Médoc. Its characteristic graceful power, depth, complexity and balance are only fully revealed after long bottle ageing.
These are well-rounded, concentrated wines with a great deal of charm. Owned by the Colony Capital investment fund since 2001, the property was sold to the Health Insurance company MACSF in 2011.
