Information
Ploussard Le Grapiot from Cellier Saint Benoit is produced from a 1.5 hectare vineyard situated on grey marl and chalky soils. It is here that the grape variety Ploussard, also known as Poulsard, is carefully grown to produce a light and refined red wine. Harvesting is done by hand, allowing for rigorous selection of perfectly ripened grapes. In accordance with tradition, winemaking commences with a short period of maceration to delicately extract the grape’s aromas and conserve the light ruby colour that is characteristic of this variety of grape. Fermentation takes place naturally without any addition of yeast and ageing in oak barrels lasts for about 10 months, giving a subtle complexity to the wine.
On the nose, this wine releases aromas of small red fruit such as cherry and raspberry, accompanied by floral and lightly spiced notes. On the palate, it is fresh and delicate, with smooth tannins and a lively acidity that makes this a very quaffable wine.
