Information
The Les Maiols cuvée is an iconic red wine from the Montsant region in Catalonia, renowned for its mountainous landscapes and diverse soils. The Montsant appellation, recognised in 2002, benefits from a temperate Mediterranean climate ideal for vine cultivation. The soils here are predominantly clay and limestone, contributing to the wine’s distinctive character. The winemaking starts with manual harvests, followed by a meticulous sorting of the grapes. In the winery, the grapes are destemmed before fermenting in stainless steel vats with native yeasts, allowing for a pure expression of the terroir. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels, imparting subtle woody and spicy notes.
In the glass, this cuvée displays a vibrant ruby-red colour. The nose reveals aromas of ripe red fruits, black cherry and spices, combined with a floral touch. On the palate, the wine is velvety, with smooth tannins, balanced acidity, and a long finish marked by hints of candied fruit and liquorice.
