Information
The Jobard family has been producing wine in Meursault for many generations. In 1993, Rémi Jobard took over from his father Charles (he had already made his first vintage in 1991). The vineyard has been organic since 2005, certified since 2011 (conversion started in 2008). Rémi Jobard is a very talented winemaker, making delicate, smooth and supple Meursaults, which age with class and whose élevage is always neatly carried out. This area is one of the best of the appellation.
Located on the Côte de Beaune between Volnay and Meursault, Monthélie is often overshadowed by its more illustrious neighbours, yet it is home to several high?quality terroirs that produce elegant and expressive wines. The Les Champs Fulliot climat rests on limestone soils with a mix of fine clays, which ensure good water retention and promote slow, balanced ripening. The estate was certified as organic in 2011; Rémi Jobard carries out meticulous work there, involving hand-harvests, slow pressing in whole bunches and spontaneous fermentation in old barrels. The fermentation process is brought to an end with ageing for 12 months in barrels and a period in stainless steel vats before bottling.
The wine has a pale, bright yellow colour with flashes of gold. The nose is fine and expressive with aromas of white flowers, citrus fruits zest and ripe pear with subtle chalky and buttery notes. The balanced and dynamic palate reveals a beautiful saline richness, carried by a crisp acidity.
