Information
This cuvée is the profound expression of traditional Corsican viticulture. The terroir of Porto-Vecchio, located on the eastern coast of Southern Corsica, enjoys a warm, dry Mediterranean climate, tempered by the influence of the sea and mountain winds. Historically, this appellation was revived in the 1960s thanks to a few pioneers, including Christian Imbert, founder of the estate, who was keen to preserve indigenous grape varieties and restore Corsican wine to its former glory. The terroir is based on acidic, well-drained granite soils, ideal for producing fine, structured wines. The work on the vine has been certified as organic since 2002, with a rigorous respect for the environment. The grapes are hand-harvested followed by traditional winemaking methods: partial destemming, 15-20 day maceration, natural fermentation, and ageing in concrete tanks for several months. This ruby-red wine reveals notes of myrtle, heath, black fruits and Corsican spices on the nose. On the palate, the attack is supple, followed by a juicy and fresh texture, enhanced by fine tannins.
