Information
Let’s head to Chassagne-Montrachet and Domaine Jean-Marc Morey. Covering just under 10 hectares, the estate includes several Premier Cru parcels, among them Les Champs Gains, from which this cuvée is produced. Les Champs Gains Premier Cru is a single-varietal Chardonnay. The vineyard lies to the south of Chassagne-Montrachet, towards Santenay, on the fringe of one of the highest points in the village. The site benefits from excellent drainage with a high proportion of clay complemented by limestone and gravel. The vines are farmed according to organic principles and the work of Max Léglise, Jean-Marc Morey’s mentor and father.
Following manual harvests, the grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation before being matured for many months in 228-litre oak barrels. The resulting wine shows a delightful lemon-yellow hue and golden highlights. The nose reveals aromas of apple, pear, almond, butter and jasmine. On the palate the wine is lively, generous and harmonious.
