Information
Originally from Canada, Katie Worobeck discovered the diversity of French terroirs in 2017, during a formative internship with Jean-François Ganevat, the Jura’s leading champion and pioneer of natural wine. The experience proved pivotal, inspiring a deep vocation rooted in respect for life, terroir, and craftsmanship. Before long, she settled in southern France, though maintained close ties to the Jura, where she eventually acquired her first small parcel of Chardonnay. This was the birth of Maenad, an intimate, artisan house driven by a distinctly personal and poetic approach to wine.
By 2022, the project had grown: Katie expanded her estate and now cultivates several of the Jura’s classic varieties, including Trousseau, Poulsard, Pinot Noir and Savagnin. Guided by her focus on organic and biodynamic viticulture, she works meticulously in the vineyard, always attentive to soil health, biodiversity and the rhythm of the seasons.
Winemaking is as gentle and low-intervention as possible: no inputs, no added sulphur, native yeasts, natural fermentations, and continual care for balance in the wine. Each cuvée reflects the identity of the grape with sensitivity in wines that are precise, delicate, sometimes a touch wild, and always sincere.
Through Maenad, Katie Worobeck exemplifies a new generation of independent, passionate, and committed growers who are redefining the Jura’s voice.
A discreet estate, but one already in high demand among lovers of vibrant, living wines.
