Information
VV26 is an exceptional cuvée from the Champagne house Frerejean Frères Its name stands for Vieilles Vignes and 1926, the year the Chardonnay vines used to produce this wine were planted in the village of Cramant, one of Champagne’s 17 Grand Cru villages and one of the six in the Côte des Blancs. Here, the soils consist predominantly of chalk, complemented by clay and sand. These century-old vines draw their strength from deep within the chalk bedrock.
In the winery, each parcel is vinified separately before the wine is aged in oak barrels for almost a year. It then spends nearly eight years ageing on its lees.
In the glass, the wine’s golden hue reveals aromas of pear, baked apple, fig, spices and white truffle. The palate is beautifully expressive, fleshy and silky, with notes of vanilla and oak.
