About the producer

At 30 years old, Aurélien Suenen is from the fifth generation of winemakers in his family. His champagnes are a true reflection of their terroir which encompasses the typical chalk-rich soil of the Côte des Blancs, iconic varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, and a unique know-how that respects the "traditional method". Straddling the grand cru vineyards of Cramant and Oiry in the Côte des Blancs, Maison Suenen's wines are distinguished, with a distinctive bubble and fresh fruit, citrus, and white flower aromas. Systematic malolactic fermentation and ageing in oak barrels add buttery and vanilla notes that evoke freshly baked brioche!

About the wine

This Champagne is a wonderful expression of Côte des Blancs, and more precisely, the Grand Cru classified village of Oiry. The vines on the heights of Oiry are planted on Campanian chalky soils: a porous, active chalk that provides excellent drainage while regulating the water supply to the vines. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal maturity. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in old oak barrels with indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation is blocked to preserve the wine's natural freshness. The wine is then aged on the lees for an extended period before disgorgement without dosage, ensuring that none of the terroir’s character is masked.
The wine has a pale, bright golden colour with fine and persistent bubbles. The nose opens with aromas of lemon zest, green apples, delicate chalk, lime trees and fresh almonds. The attack on the palate is sharp followed by a chalky, salty and long texture, carried by vibrant acidity and remarkable purity.
