Information
Located in the north of the appellation, Le Rognet climat, which stretches across the slopes of Aloxe-Corton, is one of the oldest lieux-dits in Burgundy. The well-drained brown clay-limestone and marl soils give the Pinot Noir both structure and aromatic brilliance, while its east- and southeast-facing exposure helps develop a natural balance. The wine is produced from hand-harvests with meticulous sorting on the vine and in the cellar. The grapes undergo cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by fermentation in stainless steel vats. Lastly, the wine is aged for 20 months in 50% new oak barrels.
The glass shows a deep ruby-red colour. The nose is complex and noble, revealing aromas of black cherries, white pepper and truffle beautifully complemented by subtle, well-integrated oak notes. On the palate, the wine is dense and structured, simultaneously velvety and vertical. The finish is long and mouthwatering, carried by refined tannins and mineral tension.
