Information
Omar is an exceptional white from Beaujolais, classified as a Vin de France in order to preserve total freedom of style, but produced on the characteristic granitic and clay-limestone terroirs of southern Burgundy. The Viognier grapes come from old vines planted on well-exposed hillsides. The soils, composed of degraded granite and clay, give the wine minerality, tension and balance. The grapes are harvested by hand into small crates. The winemaking process is natural, with gentle pressing, spontaneous fermentation and long ageing on fine lees in old barrels without new wood. On tasting, the wine stands out for its brilliant lemon yellow colour. The nose is delicate, with delicious notes of white flowers, lemon zest, fresh almond and wet stone. On the palate, the mouthfeel is lively, crisp, energetic and saline, leading into a flavoursome, lingering finish.
