Information
Les Culs de Beaujeu is one of the finest expressions of the Sancerre appellation and a benchmark for the wines of the Central Loire. Sancerre is one of the world’s great homes of Sauvignon Blanc, renowned for wines of precision and depth. This exceptional terroir is rooted in Kimmeridgian marl, a clay-limestone soil rich in marine fossils that gives the wine its distinctive chalky minerality, striking tension and impressive longevity. Yields are kept exceptionally low, concentrating both fruit and flavour. In the winery, fermentation starts spontaneously in large seasoned wooden tuns, followed by extended ageing on the lees without stirring or filtration. The wine is then bottled with minimal intervention.
The pale yellow hue is illuminated by golden glints. The complex nose reveals aromas of lemon zest, white flowers, flint and ripe fruit. The full-bodied yet beautifully taut palate carries through to a long, saline finish.
