Information
Located on the right bank of the Rhône, between Vienne and Valence, the Condrieu appellation is one of the great white wines of the northern Rhône Valley. The Viognier vines are planted on steep terraces carved into granite slopes, facing south and south-east. These granitic soils, sometimes enriched with mica-schist, ensure excellent drainage and strong solar reflection, aiding ripening. The grapes are harvested by hand in small crates at optimal ripeness. In the winery, fermentation takes place in seasoned oak casks with native yeasts at low temperature. The wine is then aged on its fine lees in oak for around ten months, with occasional stirring.
The pale gold hue is lifted by golden glints. The intense, complex nose reveals aromas of exotic fruit, white peach, fresh apricot and white flowers. Fresh on the palate, the wine opens with a suave attack, carried by a fleshy yet finely balanced texture, leading to a saline, aromatic finish.
