Information
Gosset, whose ancestors have lived in Aÿ since 1484, is one of the oldest houses in Champagne (created in 1584 by Jean Gosset). Béatrice Cointreau passed the domain over to her brother Jean-Pierre in 2007. Gosset's speciality has become vinous, intense and powerful champagnes which age majestically. This is particularly true for their brilliant vintage cuvées and the cuvée Célébris. The house launched a new cuvée in 2007, a blanc de blancs with remarkable tension.
The Suzanne Gosset rosé cuvée is born from a blend of premier Champagne terroirs, notably from the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs, where chalk lies just beneath the surface, imparting unmatched minerality and freshness to the grapes. These light, well-drained chalky soils play a vital role in the slow ripening of the berries, encouraging aromatic expression from both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and delivering a remarkable balance of acidity, tension and finesse. After disgorgement, the bottles are carefully laid to rest in the cellar for at least 12 months.
In the glass, this Champagne displays an elegant salmon-pink hue with coppery highlights, animated by a fine, lively bead. The nose opens with subtle aromas of wild strawberry, fresh redcurrant, orange peel and pink biscuit of Reims, complemented by hints of buttery brioche and white pepper. The palate is extremely precise: fresh, direct and lively, with a lovely vinous texture, perfectly integrated acidity and a saline, gently spicy finish.
