Information
Frédéric Esmonin took up the family domain in Gevrey-Chambertin in 1988, after beginning a career as a négociant in Burgundy, an activity that he still pursues. This is a discrete name but it hasn't gone unnoticed in this most famous winemaking region.
Griotte-Chambertin, one of the Grands Crus of the Côte de Nuits, is a legendary terroir located in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, among Burgundy’s most prestigious wine producing villages. This complex terroir imparts finesse, structure and minerality. The wine stands out for its elegance and subtlety, all the while remaining deeply rooted in Burgundian tradition. Grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted to retain only the healthiest bunches. After picking, fermentation takes place in open vats, with alcoholic fermentation triggered by native yeasts. The wine is aged for 18 months in old oak casks.
The wine displays an intense red hue with ruby and purplish glints. The nose is subtle and complex, combining ripe black fruit with spice notes. On tasting, the smooth and structured palate reveals exquisite fine-grained tannins.
