Information
Domaine Charles Noëllat had ideally located plots in Vosne, especially the grand cru Richebourg. The domaine was bought in 1988 by Lalou Bize-Leroy to become the future Domaine Leroy. Today, collectors eagerly grasp the few remaining bottles.
The Vosne-Romanée appellation, established in 1936, is an iconic jewel of the Côte de Nuits renowned the world over. This small village is home to eight Grands Crus and around fifteen Premiers Crus, but also produces village wines that express the region’s typical clay-limestone terroir beautifully. In the winery, vinification is conducted with the utmost care in the traditional way. Harvesting is done by hand, followed by rigorous sorting. The fruit then undergoes partial destalking and spontaneous fermentation. The wine then ages for 16 months in oak casks before bottling without fining or filtration. The wine reveals a brilliant, clear ruby-red hue. The nose is generous and elegant, unveiling notes of cherry, raspberry, violet, fine spice and undergrowth. The palate opens with a supple attack, unfolding a velvety texture, fine tannins and a persistent finish lifted by both mineral and earthy nuances.
