Information
Gevrey-Chambertin is one of the most prestigious appellations of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy, renowned for its powerful, intense red wines built for ageing. The Pinot Noir vines grow in brown clay-limestone soils rich in marl. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand to preserve the integrity of the bunches, with rigorous sorting both in the vineyard and in the vathouse. After partial destalking, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats, with regular punch-downs and pump-overs to ensure balance and express the full potential of the Pinot Noir. The wine is aged for around 12 months in French oak casks.
In the glass, the hue is an intense ruby-red. The nose is intense and expressive, offering a fine array of black fruit with black cherry and wild blackberry lifted by notes of violet, sweet spice, blond tobacco and undergrowth. The first sip is generous and robust, revealing a substance carried by firm yet refined tannins, giving density without weight.
