Information
Domaine Prieuré Roch, created in 1988, extends over 14 hectares, along the Côte de Nuits, over a dozen climats. The Domaine applies organic methods and favours very low yields. His wines are therefore very fine and represent as closely as possible their respective climats.
This Pinot Noir originates from parcels in the Côte de Nuits, close to Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vosne-Romanée, though not officially claimed under either appellation. The vines are rooted in clay-limestone soils, rich in white marl and limestone scree. Vinification is natural and artisanal, beginning with hand harvesting and meticulous sorting in the vineyard. Fermentation involves whole bunches and native yeasts and is performed in open wooden vats. The wine is then aged for 12 months in oak casks, a small proportion of them new.
In the glass, the wine reveals a slightly hazy clear, light ruby-red hue, on account of the absence of filtration. The nose is intense and vibrant, revealing aromas of Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, peony, bramble, fresh leather and a noble vegetal note. The palate opens with a delicate, silky attack, offering an airy, juicy texture carried by exceptionally fine tannins.
