Information
Domaine Michel Noëllat, founded in the 19th century, is located in the heart of Vosne-Romanée. Owned by the Noëllat family for five generations, it is currently managed by two brothers, Alain and Jean-Marc, since their father Michel’s death in 1989. Their vineyards include 27 hectares spread over 23 different appellations, from Marsannay-la-Côte (Côte de Nuits) to Pommard (Côte de Beaune), in particular with two grand crus and eight premier crus. They produce remarkable wines and maintain fairly reasonable prices.
The estate selected the Aux Genaivrières climat for the finesse of its Pinot Noir grapes. The vines grow on well-drained clay-limestone soils facing east and south-east at around 240 metres altitude. This terroir lends the wine harmonious concentration, discreet minerality and refined aromatic expression. Harvesting is done entirely by hand with meticulous sorting. Vinification follows full destalking, and fermentation is conducted in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, before a 12-month ageing period in French oak casks.
The wine displays an intense, brilliant garnet-ruby hue. The refined bouquet combines ripe black fruits with sweet spices, wild herbs and delicate floral nuances. On the palate, the wine charms with a silky texture and a remarkable balance of fine tannins and perfectly integrated saline acidity.
