    Information
    About the producer

The estate was founded in 1992 through the hard work of Gabriel Jouard and his son Paul. Together, they cultivate around 11 hectares of vines on the superb Chassagne-Montrachet terroir. Today, Paul perpetuates the family legacy, keeping the first name of his father, who taught him so much, next to his own on the label. Each parcel of vines possesses its unique characteristics, resulting in wines with very different qualities and a wide range of aromas. Paul is convinced of the short- and long-term benefits of balanced, healthy and sustainable viticulture, both in the winery and in the vineyard. He uses traditional vinification methods with as little intervention as possible. The estate, which continues to grow, produces refined, pure and robust red and white wines.

    About the wine

The Chassagne-Montrachet appellation, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, is renowned for producing some of Burgundy’s most distinguished Chardonnay wines. Alongside Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault, the village forms part of the trio responsible for Burgundy’s greatest white Grands Crus. Here, the estate tends 45–50-year-old vines rooted in clay-limestone soils that favour purity and precision of expression. Harvesting is done by hand with a rigorous bunch selection directly in the vineyard. Fermentation takes place in oak casks with native yeasts, followed by 10 months of ageing in oak, with around 30% new wood.
The wine shows a brilliant pale gold hue. The nose offers a complex interplay of ripe stone fruit, white flowers, toasted almond and delicate buttery notes. On the palate, the attack is broad and generous, carried by fine acidity. A creamy texture unfolds over fine, underlying minerality, leading into a long, persistent finish.
