Information
Domaine Denis Mugneret was established by Marcel Mugneret in the heart of Burgundy’s most iconic appellations. Nowadays, the vineyard is proud to cultivate no less than seven hectares of the Pinot Noir red grape variety and almost one hectare of the Aligoté white grape variety. Well aware of the current environmental concerns and with a view to protecting biodiversity, the winemaker handles his vines with the utmost respect for the soil and the environment. Each parcel receives specific care depending on its needs, to allow the personality of each one to shine through. In the winery, vinification involves very little intervention, and sulphur is added in minute quantities to allow the fruit to fully express all its aromas and flavours naturally. It is in this harmonious, peaceful environment that the Burgundy vineyards produce elegant, authentic wines that are a perfect reflection of the region’s terroir and grape varieties.
The Échézeaux Grand Cru appellation lies in the commune of Flagey-Échézeaux, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. This exceptional south-east-facing terroir promotes optimal ripening, while its limestone marl soils provide steady water retention and balanced nourishment for the vines. After manual harvests, the fruit ferments in open vats with native yeasts, allowing for gentle extraction of aromas and tannins. The wine is then aged for 16 months in casks, which brings both structure and complexity.
In the glass, the wine shows an intense, vibrant ruby hue. The nose reveals complex aromas of ripe red fruit, violet, undergrowth and fine spice. On the palate, a generous velvety attack opens onto silky tannins and a supple texture supported by a subtle minerality. The finish is long and persistent, lifted by notes of red fruit and spice.
