Information
Created by Jean-Luc Aegerter, this Burgundian house was then inherited by his son Paul. The two share a passion for nature, which guides them in producing top-quality wines. Situated in the Côte d'Or, in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the domain is nowadays expertly managed by Paul, who has brought his energy, taking the house's output off the beaten track to produce wines for enophile from all walks of life.
The Échezeaux Grand Cru is one of the most prestigious climats of Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits. The terroir rests on clay-limestone soils mixed with marl and pebbles, with predominantly east and south-east exposure.
These shallow, well-drained soils promote slow, even ripening of the fruit. Once harvested at peak maturity, the grapes undergo meticulous sorting. Fermentation follows traditional methods in open vats, with gentle punch-downs to preserve the finesse of the tannins and the wine’s aromatic richness. Ageing then takes place for 14 months in oak casks, with 40% new wood.
In the glass, the ruby hue is bright and clear. The nose delivers complex red and black fruit lifted by floral notes and fine spice with subtle oak tones. The palate is generous and velvety, supported by racy smooth tannins.
