Information
The Château de Puligny-Montrachet has been owned by Etienne and Alix de Montille since 2012. They also own the famous Domaine de Montille. Etienne de Montille has been the domaine manager since 2002. The vineyard has been certified in organic agriculture since 2002 and biodynamic since 2005. The Château produces precise, refined white wines.
Monthélie lies between Volnay and Meursault and is home to the Premier Cru climat Les Duresses. Set on east- and south-east-facing slopes, it enjoys ideal sunlight. The clay-limestone soils, rich in marl and small pebbles, give Chardonnay both breadth and tension. Manual harvests are followed by meticulous sorting to retain only the healthiest berries. Fermentation takes place in oak casks with native yeasts, and the wine is then aged for twelve to 14 months in cask, with around 25% new oak.
In the glass, the wine reveals a pale golden yellow hue with bright green glints. The nose offers white flower aromatics, fresh citrus and pear, lifted by fine buttery notes and a discreet touch of oak. On the palate, a crisp, precise attack leads into a creamy texture balanced by vivid mineral tension. The long, lively finish carries flavours of candied citrus and flint.
