Information
Nuits-Saint-Georges is regarded as the birthplace of the Côte de Nuits and lends its name to the entire northern half of the Burgundy vineyard area. Its red wines, powerful and structured, have been celebrated since the Middle Ages. The Premier Cru Les Pruliers sits at the heart of the iconic village. Its name refers to the plum trees (pruniers, or pruliers in Old French) that once grew there. The Pinot Noir vines are planted on pebbly iron-rich clay-limestone soils, a combination that fosters tannic power and aromatic depth. Harvesting is done by hand, followed by rigorous sorting. Traditional vinification unfolds in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats with spontaneous fermentation. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak casks, with 35% new wood.
The wine shows a deep, brilliant ruby hue. The nose is intense and complex, offering black fruit lifted by spice, liquorice and undergrowth. On the palate, a generous, structured attack opens onto firm yet elegant tannins, leading into a dense, persistent, fruit-driven finish.
